Gauge

Spoke Diameter

The gauge of a spoke describes the tensile strength of the wire its made from. As with most things, as the thickness increases so does the strength, however; the gauge number gets stronger as the number decreases.

For example: a 14g spoke measuring 2.0mm in diameter should be stronger than a 15g spoke with a diameter of 1.8mm.
